There are many conditions that can inhibit women from enjoying a healthy and satisfying sex life. Rather than accepting subpar sexual wellness, patients who struggle with a low libido, dryness, difficulty climaxing, or uncomfortable intercourse can feel confident knowing that Dr. Rachael Haverland, our board-certified gynecologist, can find an ideal solution to restore optimal sexual health at our Dallas practice. In addition to cosmetic gynecology procedures, we offer several non-surgical treatments at Highland Gynecology to improve intimate wellness for both pre- and post-menopausal patients.
Addyi® is a prescription medication designed to treat low sexual desire or Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD). If you’re troubled by a reduced or non-existent sex drive, Addyi® may help adjust your hormone levels to not only enhance your desire for sex, but also potentially increase your sexual satisfaction. This FDA-approved medication is taken orally and designed solely for pre-menopausal women who have not had problems with sexual desire in the past. It’s also important to note that Addyi® is only for patients whose low sex drive is not caused by mental health issues, relationship problems, or the effects of other medications.
Short for “Orgasm Shot®,” the O-Shot® can be an effective option to treat decreased sexual arousal, dryness, and difficulty climaxing, among other concerns. This innovative treatment uses the natural growth factors in your own blood to stimulate stem cells and generate healthier tissue in the vaginal region. The process works by placing a small blood sample into a centrifuge, which separates your natural platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from whole blood. The PRP is then injected into the vaginal area, often resulting in a myriad of rejuvenative effects over the following weeks and months, including increased natural lubrication, heightened sensations, more frequent orgasms, and reduced discomfort.
Vyleesi® is another FDA-approved medication for women who are pre-menopausal and concerned by an acquired lack of sexual desire—meaning they have not previously had issues with a low sex drive. This prescription medication is available as an injectable, and should be self-administered in the thigh or abdomen approximately 45 to 60 minutes before engaging in sexual activity. For the right patients, Vyleesi® can enhance libido, treat HSDD, and increase one’s sexual desire.
Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation
Laser vaginal rejuvenation can be an excellent non-surgical option to resolve many types of sexual dysfunction, from laxity and dryness to loose labial tissue. At Highland Gynecology, we utilize ThermiVa® to rejuvenate the intimate areas—a state-of-the-art vaginal tightening technology that delivers controlled radiofrequency thermal energy to the outer labia and/or the internal vaginal canal. This gentle heat energy encourages the production of new collagen, thereby improving laxity, excess tissue, dryness, and mild to moderate incontinence. Treatment typically takes no longer than 30 minutes and requires no downtime. For the best possible results, we recommend undergoing three treatments over the course of six months, on a yearly basis.
